"We created the Guild of Casting Directors primarily to establish a professional community that would develop common principles and standards for the work of casting directors.
Secondly, the profession of casting director has still not been officially recognized in the register of film industry professions, despite the fact that today it is almost impossible to create a strong acting ensemble or discover new talent without the expertise of a casting director.
Thirdly, the absence of professional and ethical standards in our field leads to uncertainty and hinders the development of the profession, creating misconceptions about the role, responsibilities, and professional contribution of a casting director." -
A casting director is an artist, equal to a makeup artist, costume designer, or production designer. Through the unique vision of a casting director, an exceptional ensemble of actors is created.
By joining the Guild, a casting director becomes part of a professional community of colleagues who are committed to developing the profession and continuously improving their skills.
We understand the direction in which the film industry is evolving and believe that the role of the casting director in productions is becoming increasingly significant. A more thoughtful, structured, and professional approach to casting is essential for the future development of the industry.
- Professional networking events and participation in film festivals.One of the Guild’s key missions is to share professional expertise about the art and methodology of casting with emerging producers and directors, preserve industry knowledge, and pass it on to the next generation of casting directors. The Guild also supports actors by teaching them effective audition techniques and a professional approach to the casting process.
Through participation in festival laboratories, educational programs, master classes, and professional consultations, the Guild contributes to the continuous development of the casting profession and the film industry as a whole.
- Ethical and professional casting practices.The Guild is committed to contributing to the continuous growth of Russian cinema and to increasing the recognition and professional standing of casting directors.
Our mission is to ensure that directors and producers receive high-quality, transparent, and ethical casting services, while promoting clear standards of professional practice. Every Guild member agrees to uphold the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct defined in the Guild’s Charter.Failure to comply with the Guild’s principles and standards may lead to the termination of membership.
